Mong Yan Lutheran
Church, with the support of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong,
announces the establishment of a new English-speaking ministry, located in
its facility near the Kowloon Tong KCR station. This new ministry will
begin worship services in September, at 5:00 p.m. every Sunday. Two missionary pastors
within the ELCHK, Rev. Valerie Peterson of the USA and Rev. Hakan Granberg
of Finland, will be serving in this ministry, in conjunction with Rev. Chow
Wing Fai, pastor of Mong Yan Lutheran Church. We hope to create a worship life both liturgical and flexible; with traditional and contemporary music; with both familiar form and room for response to the Spirit’s movement and the needs of the community. We anticipate that expatriate families, those in cross-cultural marriages, returning Chinese who have acclimated to Western church culture, foreign domestic helpers, and international students will be among those interested in participating in this ministry. As we get a picture of the community that may form, we will be able to plan for education and fellowship needs as appropriate.
